Implementation Frameworks

There are five implementation frameworks essential to successful uses of innovations in education and other human services.

Usable Interventions

To be usable, it’s necessary to have sufficient detail about an intervention. With detail, you can train educators to implement it with fidelity, replicate it across multiple settings and measure the use of the intervention. So, an intervention needs to be teachable, learnable, doable, and be readily assessed in practice.

Implementation Teams

An important aspect of closing the gap in program implementation is defining WHO does the work of implementation. The SISEP center focuses on growing the capacity of local, regional and state implementation teams to initiatie change and relieve barriers at every level of the system. Implementation Team members at each level make effective use of Implementation Drivers, Implementation Stages and Improvement Cycles.

Implementation Drivers

Evidence-based programs and other innovations are, by definition, new ways of educating students. The full and effective uses of evidence-based programs and other innovations are driven by best implementation practices to develop required staff competencies, assure necessary organization supports, and prepare leaders for multiple roles in supporting teachers and staff in their new ways of work.

Implementation Stages

Implementation is a process that follows identified stages, beginning with exploration and buy in, and eventually arriving at full implementation.  Each Stage includes critical tasks and goals that must be achieved.  The Stages tend to be additive and interact in interesting ways.

Improvement Cycles

Imperfection is expected and processes are established to continually and systematically build on current successes, uncover current problems, and work toward better outcomes.
